StaCatalinaOnline.com is an independent website that features up to date information about the Municipality of Sta. Catalina in the Province of Oriental Negros, Philippines. There are places mentioned here where I frequently visited with my family and friends. There are 20 municipalities and 5 cities in the province of Negros Oriental, which is divided into 3 major congressional districts for legislative presentation and each is governed by a Congressman.

In the first district are the municipalities of Vallehermoso, Guihulngan, La Libertad, Jimalalud, Tayasan, Ayungon, Bindoy, Manjuyod and the city of Canlaon.

The second district is consisting the towns of Mabinay, , Pamplona, Amlan, San Jose, Sibulan, and the cities of Bais city, Tanjay city and the city Gentle people, Dumaguete.

And in the third district are the towns of Valencia, Bacong, Dauin, Zamboanguita, Siaton, Santa Catalina, Bayawan city, and Basay.

Mabuhay, Sta. Catalina!

The Municipality of Sta. Catalina is located in the south of Dumaguete city province of Negros Oriental. From Dumaguete city, you can take a bus or a v-hire ride. It's about 93 killometers, and would take about 2 hours and a half to get to Sta. Catalina town proper.

Sta. Catalina is considered to be the largest town in the province of Negros Oriental, divided into 22 barangays and Poblacion is the capital where the municipal hall is found. When you get to the proper, you don't need to worry because the people in town are hospitable, friendly and easy to talk to. The main source of transportation is Potpot (bike with sidecar) Pedicab (motorcycle with sidecar), Habal-habal (motor) and Jeepney.

The town's fiesta is celebrated every 25th of April, in honor to Sta. Catalina de Alexdria, the patron saint. Many people from different cities, and foreigners visit to witness the "Pakol Festival" and the Beauty Pageants, and other activities lined-up.

The people in Santa speaks cebuano, bisaya dialect and can also understand Tagalog and English. When it comes to livelihood, like most people in the country, people in Sta. Catalina is involved in the agriculture industry - sugarcane, corn, coconut and rice are the principal grown products. And has wide-ranging marine resources, making fishing the main source of livelihood in the coastal areas. And it also has cattle ranches and fishponds.
