At first, they were a tad obnoxious, but after dealing with soaking wet socks at the end of every school day for the past two weeks, I’ve started to take a liking to these tall rubber shoes. For wet students, these are a real hit.

Scarves: This sounds like an odd addition to your rain attire, but scarves have proven to be a handy rain guard for many people I know. While protecting our precious necks from the cold, wet wind, scarves also seem to provide useful coverage for our hair! When running from Leacock to Shatner, or whatever short distance you may be attempting, the scarf can save your hair from getting wet if you hold it above you or wrap it around your head. Although it sounds like a silly gesture, if done properly it can look quite elegant, while allowing your ‘do to last the day.

5. iPod with happy music: The last accessory that I will suggest is this-an iPod or any music device with the most upbeat tunes you have. Walking to class in the pouring rain is enough to spark minor depression in even the happiest of people. Waking up morning after morning to the same grey sky may even be fatal for some. One of the best ways to conquer this bad mood is to listen to some cheerful music on your way to wherever you are going. The iPod is a modish accessory in any kind of weather, but particularly helpful in the rain. Listen to a little “Dreams be dreams” by Jack Johnson and the mornings won’t be so harsh on our hopeful souls.

Ugma na jud ang eleksyon.

Sa mga dili ka botar ugma so sama lang sa ordinaryo nga adlaw, pero sa mga botante og kandidato ugma ang pinaka espesyal nga adlaw. Kay ugma na nila mabal-an ang hukom sa katawhan, ug ugma nasab nila (mga kandidato) mabal-an kung makabawi ba sila sa ila gastos. Ha-ha! Ayna, kay kabalo nako nganong nidagan mo (dili tanan) para lang naa mo permamente na income. Tapos, daghan lagi ang natingala kay lahi ra daw sa una na eleksyon, kay dapat daw kuno naa nay gipanghatag ang mga kadidato (bugas, de lata, noodles etc) ug ang tag 20 pesos na naka staple sa sample ballot, pero wala paman daw. Ha-ha!

Maayong Buntag!

www.stacatalinaonline.com has been running for a year now, but as you can see there’s nothing much in there  (lack of content, no photos, some links are not working) in short it’s not updated. And that’s should not be!

If you have noticed there are actually two web-pages (the main page and this blog page); the main page (www.stacatalinaonline.com) is a static page, and the blog page (www.stacatalinaonline.com/blog) is a dynamic page where you can update the blog post easily – unlike the static page where there are some process to consider.

Why the website is created – Goals, Reasons & Purposes.

Firstly, it was created because its interest me. I love taking pictures, and because I know a little about the web, I decided to design a website where I display my thoughts and share the photos. It’s purely a hobby! I’ve created a blog on blogspot (maybe some of you have already visited), and created page on facebook.

I met this energetic, amazing and friendly santahanon on facebook (sta catalina neg or), suggesting, sharing his/her thoughts and offering help. (i don’t know who she/he is). And I was really happy knowing that there’s someone out there willing to contribute and help me maintaining the website. And it means two things: the website/blog will be updated frequently, and it will lessen my workload. which is great! (HA-HA-HA!, just kidding). And so, we came up with an idea on asking help to all Santahanons who are interested to get involve in an online community. No age limit, as long as you are interested and willing to learn.

And secondly, with this website created, we are aiming to serve as a portal of information for Sta Catalina – get involve in latest events, connect with friends and family & sharing ideas and to have fun. In this way, you’ll get yourself connected wherever you are in the world.

To make this possible, we are seeking everyone’s help:

1. Article writer (write articles)

2. Blogger (same like an article writer who writes an entry)

4. Editor (we’ll need someone to look over the “content”, to make sure that the published material is of quality in terms of grammar & originality. (pls. check my grammar ). there are so many issues on the net regarding on copy right, duplicate content..and so on. will avoid that one.)

3. Photographer (takes picture)

4. Graphic artists (we are needing someone to edit pictures, to make it good before posting it online)

5. Field reporter (i’m still not sure on this one…)

6. Webmaster (will help me in web-updates)

As you may know, there are 22 Barangays in Sta Catalina, so I am thinking that each barangays has a representative or contributor. And that representative will work specifically for the barangay she/he belongs to. In that way, we can get more updates on each barangays.

Santahanons working abroad

We are also opening a door for you guys, you are very much welcome to contribute your experiences, travel tips & guide, the places you’ve visited. Let’s admit that not all of us been there, or will have a chance to work abroad so this would be a great place to share it. And also to all interested to work abroad, you can send tips & guide, the process involves.

As for the website, I & the team will be working on new features:

1. we are going to ingrate chat on the website

2. will add forum page (i have this before but it’s too big to manage, when this forum page is up – will be needing forum managers/someone to manage)

3. will create travel guide on videos

4. will provide good places to visit (sad to say, i don’t know places to brag with my friends)

You don’t need to worry, trainings & tutorials will be provided.
